March 10, 2011 — NYSUT presents a one-day STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Institute for educators to exchange experiences on implementing high tech content into the classroom.
November 16, 2010 Tech Valley Comes To BHBL — Students, parents and community members are invited this presentation by Mike Russo of GLOBALFOUNDARIES, followed by a panel discussion including representatives from other area companies.

2010 STEM Camps for High School StudentsThrough summer 2010 — Local community colleges and the regional BOCES network offered seven Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) themed summer camps available to high students with a scholarship.
SEMI High Tech U – Teachers EditionAugust 23-24, 2010 — The Workforce Consortium supported the highly acclaimed SEMI High Tech U program for the third summer. This program was featured as a top story on YNN news and can be seen here.
SEMI High Tech U – Student ProgramAugust 17-20, 2010 — The SEMI High Tech U is an industry driven and sponsored event that involves partners teaching the valuable components of the program.
July 19-23, 2010 — This is a FREE one-week workshop to show high school science, math and technology teachers how to use low cost / no cost, simple labs and experiments using everyday materials that can be integrated into your existing lesson plans.
July 19-23, 2010 — This summer, Rensselaer hosted 20 secondary level teachers from regional school districts for a professional development program on Nanotechnology.
SMART Lighting Summer CampJuly 7, 2010 — Tech Valley Summer Camp students spent one day working with Rensselaer’s Smart Lighting Engineering Research Center undergraduates and graduate students to learn about the intricacies of SMART Lighting and the electronic circuitry required to make it all work.
On June 28, 2010, twenty-nine high students embarked on a week long journey to learn about every important topic of Renewable Energy.
Cleanroom Protocol and Safety TrainingJune 22, 2010 — This program will teach four one-hour classroom modules that can be incorporated into any trades apprenticeship program or education course work where advanced cleanroom manufacturing is the standard environment.
(ongoing) — Tech Valley Internships was created to help establish viable and meaningful internship opportunities for college students with businesses and organizations in the Greater Capital Region.
March 31, 2010 — The NYS United Teachers and the Workforce Consortium for Emerging Technologies held a networking/dinner meeting for Semi High Tech U teachers and colleagues.
March 22 – 25, 2010 — This is an excellent high school staff development opportunity for a “team” that includes one high school biology teacher and one high school chemistry teacher from school districts in the region.
September 2008 – May 2010 — Workforce Consortium has partnered with the Greater Capital Region Career Pathways Consortium to produce staff development activities.
September 2008 – present — Workforce Consortium has partnered with the Workforce Development Institute (WDI) to provide cleanroom protocol and safety training for regional trade organizations.
Friday, October 16, 2009 — Biotechnology sub-committee learned about National ATE Center AgrowKnowledge’s mission and had an introduction to the AgrowKnowledge NSF-ATE Center.
June 16, 2009 – The objective of this meeting is to develop a list of recommendations to formulate a four year plan to guide the Consortium’s efforts in the creation of educational programs to meet local biotech industry needs.
May 1, 2009 – presented by The Greater Capital Region Career Pathways Consortium in cooperation with Workforce Consortium for Emerging Technologies.
March 27, 2009 – The Workforce Consortium for Emerging Technologies designed and secured the speakers for the conference titled “Green Jobs, What all the Hoopla?” This event engaged about 70 educators in a program that featured presentations from NYSERDA, RPI, IBEW, GE Wind Energy, Renewable (Solar) Power Systems Inc., HVCC, FMCC, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
